Introduction

The human brains are magnificent in many respects but it has severe limitations.  Human brains can only process limited information and can only communicate with others in a very slow and error sensitive way. These are big disadvantages for making many important decisions. Although we build our society around humans with these limitations, it is obvious that what we are having as brains is (although better as most animals) quite a disaster in many respects. So the question is can we leave our problems to something better?

Although machines are very limited in many respects as well, they are getting faster and faster in information processing and better and better in communication with others. These are advantages that are very important for making many important decisions.  Since machines evolve in an incredible speed (and humans are not) there will be a fast growing area where machines will beat our ability to make the best choices.

I want to focus on this development. What will society look like when we leave our thinking to machines? Will we immediately see the advantage or wil we reject it at first? Will there be fundamental limitations on what we can leave to machines? What are the philosophical, ethical and technical issues involved? Is there any danger in this development? What is there to gain? Can a better mind indeed bring us these advantages? What are advantages anyway?

It is obvious that it is easy to get lost in philosophical questions here. But we cant afford to ignore the questions asked. When will it be better to leave important decisions to a machine? Can a machine help me with important decisions like: choosing a partner, an education, a place to live, or a professional career? It is important to know where are we now, and what the future wil bring us.

My statement is that  for most questions that keep us busy today, young people are probably the last generations of humans that prefer to do their own thinking.  This blog is to test the validity of this statement.

I do not only want to share my thoughts, If you know of any developments that are important for this discussion, please let me know. I appreciate your feedback, so please let me know where you agree or disagree, and if possible tell me why.
